'My Shore - Your Horizon' refers to collaborative project with painter Philip Maltman. Neighbours in London we discovered we were both making work occupying the tidal space of the the beach. Appearing on the horizon of our images was the same silhouette, Ailsa Craig, an island floating somewhere between 'his beach' on the Ayrshire coast and mine on the North East corner of Ireland.
'Voyages to Ailsa' is a series of 52 small drawings looking out towards the island in different weather conditions. That something as concrete as a granite island can float across the horizon, appear almost within arms reach, or disappear completely must make us question the reliability of perception.
